Nike Collaborates with HBCUs for Dunk Low Sneakers
Nike has partnered with several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to launch a special series of Dunk Low sneakers as part of its Yardrunners initiative. This campaign, which began in 2020, focuses on celebrating the culture and achievements of HBCUs, particularly highlighting their entrepreneurs and student-athletes. In 2022, Nike chose four HBCUs?Florida A&M University, Clark Atlanta, Tennessee State, and North Carolina A&T?to collaborate on this sneaker line.
Arial Robinson, a talented photographer and artist from Charlotte, designed the exclusive Dunk Low for North Carolina A&T. Her design pays homage to the university's architectural elements, particularly the new Student Center, and features details such as gray layers resembling cement blocks and laces inspired by the school's iconic yellow stairs. The sneaker also includes the phrase ?From Greensboro with Love? and references the school's yearbook, "Ayantee,? along with its founding year, 1891. The launch event for the North Carolina A&T Dunk Low is set for October 7, with a limited release available at Social Status and a broader launch on October 25.
